The Executive Coaching Process
Executive Coaching as an “All-Inclusive” Program
Executive Coaching is not an hourly service. I accompany your development over the long term and offer solution-oriented coaching programs with the following features:
Unlimited Support:
We can have up to one coaching session per week. In between sessions, you can contact me anytime by phone or email for short-term support if needed.
No Time Pressure:
Each coaching session lasts as long as needed – whether it’s 30 minutes or two hours, we take the time that you need.
Optional Assessments Included:
Comprehensive assessments such as verbal or formal 360-Degree Feedback and psychometric tools like Hogan or MBTI® are included in the program at no extra costs.
The Flow of an Executive Coaching Journey
Executive Coaching is as unique as my clients. Perhaps you already have a clear goal that you want to achieve as quickly as possible – in that case, we work in a highly results-oriented manner. Or maybe you currently need a space for self-reflection to gain greater clarity about your goals. In that case, our coaching will be more exploratory. An Executive Coaching program is always tailored to your individual needs. At the same time, the following framework has proven to be highly effective:
Phase 1: Clarifying Expectations
Together, we define what a successful coaching outcome means to you. These could already be “SMART” goals, or simply initial directions that we refine over time. If your employer is covering the costs of the coaching, a sponsor (e.g., your boss or HR) can be involved in a three-way conversation. This ensures that all parties are clear about what is part of the coaching process and what is not. We will also discuss how we handle confidentiality, which is of the utmost importance to me.
Phase 2: Expanding the Bigger Picture
Executive Coaching is like assembling a puzzle, where many pieces come together to form a coherent picture. Alongside your personality, it’s equally important to understand how others perceive you as a leader. That’s why I often use 360-degree feedback or stakeholder interviews. On request, additional psychometric tools like Hogan Assessments or the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) can be utilized. All of this is optional and tailored to your specific needs and preferences.
Phase 3: Focusing
Once we have established a direction and, if applicable, discussed your assessment results, we set clear priorities and develop an initial action plan to achieve the desired outcomes.
Phase 4: The Core Coaching Process
In regular coaching sessions, we examine your situation from various perspectives and derive concrete actions. This is often where we go deep: many clients already know what they “should” do but encounter internal resistance or unproductive habits that cannot simply be overcome by willpower alone. This is the heart of effective Executive Coaching – and exactly where we focus our work.
Phase 5: Iteration and Regular Review
regularly along our coaching journey, we pause and reflect: are we making the expected progress? What is working well, and what isn’t? Do we need to adjust the course due to changing circumstances or new insights? This process gives natural development the space it needs while keeping the overarching goals in sight.
Phase 6: Conclusion, Review, and Next Steps
At the end of the agreed-upon timeframe (a minimum of six months), we evaluate your progress and determine possible next steps. If a sponsor is involved, this can take place, as at the beginning, in a three-way conversation.
